no-carb sausage rolls
This classic British staple is transformed into a nutritious meal using only animal products!
Ingredients
2 sausages
2 rashers of bacon
4 eggs
50 g / 2 oz softened cream cheese
pinch of salt
1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- preheat oven to 180 C / 350 F fan
- blend egg, cream cheese, and a pinch of salt
- spread dough onto lined and greased baking tray
- bake for 5-10 minutes, or until “set”
- while the dough bakes, mince bacon
- remove the sausage from the casing and mix with bacon bits and any desired seasoning and enough water to combine mixture
- cut dough into 4 4×4″ pieces, fill center with the sausage mixture shaped into a log
- brush end with egg wash mixture, then roll to seal, adding more egg wash as needed
- place each roll on the baking dish seam-side down
- brush entire pastry with egg wash
- bake sausage rolls for 30-35 minutes at 180 C / 350 F fan watching to see if the top is browning too quickly & lightly cover with foil as needed
