no-carb carnivore crostini
So many appetizers focus on carbs as a vehicle for delicious toppings and dips. This carnivore crostini recipe is a cracker options for those looking to cut the carbs but not the flavor.
Ingredients
2 eggs
1/8 t cream of tartar
1 oz / 25g cream cheese
salt to taste
Instructions
- separate the egg whites and yolks
- add cream of tartar to the egg whites and whip to stiff peaks
- mix softened cream cheese and salt to taste to the egg yolks in a separate bowl
- gently fold the egg whites into the egg yolks until just combined
- drop cracker-sized dollops of batter on a lined baking sheet
- bake in a 300F / 150C oven for 7-10 minutes
- leave the crackers out to “dry out” overnight
- before assembling the crostini, re-bake the crackers under the broiler at low heat for 2-3 minutes.
